These groups are high commitment with a specific duration. This fall we will continue serving with Amirah House (a year-long commitment), Blueberry Hill Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, and we are thrilled to open up a third group working in local prisons. We will also be studying Tim Keller’s book, Generous Justice. To sign up for a Home Mission Group visit fcchamilton.org.

Evangelism Workshop

Have you ever wondered how to talk to your friends and neighbors about Jesus without freaking them out? Brian and Malisa Ellis have spent the last 15+ years talking with college students in Boston and beyond about spiritual things. In this very inactive worship to be held on Saturday, October 21 from 10:00 am–12:00 noon in Heritage Hall, you will get both tools and practice in the area of evangelism. If you’ve got a question about any aspect of evangelism that you’d love an answer to, e-mail it ahead of time to Brian so that he and Malisa can tailor the workshop to you. e.g. “How do I start a conversation?” “How do I move toward spiritual things?” “What happens when people have objections?” “How do I make the gospel clear?” “I still have to work with these friends at the office… what happens if I make a mistake?” Let us know where your pain points are.

Missions Update

Thank you FCCH for your support of the La Vida Center ministry. God’s provision and faithfulness was very evident in all the programs this past summer, both in the Adirondacks and on the Wenham campus. The Adventure Camp staff were able to reflect God’s love and truth to almost 700 campers from across the North Shore and also employed 16 high school CITs who were deeply encouraged in their faith in Christ. The ADK wilderness program which serves high school and college students now includes the Compass program, the Summit Theological Study Center and some special trips for Chinese students both in the US and in China. Please continue to pray for God’s guidance as La Vida develops a strategic plan for the future.

Build Your Passion For Prayer

Start out the season at the Women’s Fall Soup-er Supper this Friday, October 6, at 6:30 pm in Heritage Hall. You can bring food for our meal or pay $8 at the door. Sign up online or in Fellowship Foyer or the Ministry Center to bring part of our meal. Each woman on the Ministry Team will share how she has built prayer into her daily life. God draws each of us to Him and one way is through prayer. You’ve read the books, heard the talks, been challenged to follow a set path to succeeding in your prayer life. If it is that easy, why do we still struggle? It is important to thrive in our walk before the throne of God and we want to encourage you to see that there are a myriad of ways to connect to God and develop a deeper relationship with Him. Margot Rox, mrox@fcchamilton.org

Prison After Care Training As part of our preparations for a Home Mission Group focusing on prison ministry, FCCH is hosting a training on prison aftercare led by New Brothers Fellowship (NBF). NBF Aftercare has been supporting men post-release for 13 years, and they want to help equip the Body of Christ to do the same. Incarceration is nearly an epidemic in our society. One way to combat this problem is to help men and women never return to jail. Aftercare makes a difference. Please, join us on October 7 for Prison Aftercare 1.0. This is a FREE program open to anyone interested in learning more about this important ministry. The program will be held in the Chapel from 10:00 am–12:00 pm, followed by a question and answer session. Our first meeting is September 21 which will meet at 6:30 pm so we may enjoy a potluck dinner together. The fee for the study is $9 (full or partial scholarships available). Register online at fcchamilton.org or pick up a registration form in the Ministry Center foyer.

Library News

Stop by the library today to see the display of books that our own church members have written.  These books will also be available to check out. We are still looking for several people to help in the library either from 9:30 to 10:00 am or 12:00 to 12:30 pm on Sundays. Duties include book check in and check out and help with finding materials.  It’s a great way to visit with our members! Please contact me by email if you would be interested in volunteering one Sunday a month.

Rides Ministry

In recent months there has been more need within our church family for rides to and from appointments. We especially need people who would be willing to drive into Boston. Please contact Margot if you can help. Margot Rox

Worship Ministry Open House Lunch

Join us in the Ministry Center Café after the second service on Sunday, September 17 for a lunch hosted by the Worship Ministry team. Whether you’re in the choir or in the pews, your participation in the worship service each week means you’re an active part of the Worship Ministry here at FCCH! As such, we invite you to come and learn more about upcoming events and plans for the fall; hear about opportunities for getting involved with music and the creative arts; and ask questions about the Worship Ministry at FCCH.

Come Raise Your Voice With the Choir

If you have a gift for music, or just enjoy singing, then join us in ministering to the congregation through song.  If you would like to sing but have limited availability, be assured that long term membership is not required.  Simply speak with me or any other choir member after the service, and let us know you are interested.  There is a place for your voice, and we want to hear you!  Rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings from 7:15-8:30 pm.
