Missions Update

In their most recent update, Daniel and Shelly Young, who serve with United World Mission in La Paz, Mexico, wrote about ways they are reaching out to English speaking people in La Paz in an effort to make new friends outside of their church and Christian circles, prayerfully seeking to reach people’s hearts with the Gospel. They have been visiting a “downtown organic market where foreigners interact with local vendors two mornings a week, as well as hanging out during a coffee hour at the local marina.” Daniel, who continues to recover from his accident and surgery over the summer, said that when they first stared visiting the market he was using a wheelchair, which seemed to open opportunities to connect with people. He is now walking again, though still enduring pain. Please continue to pray for Daniel’s work as pastor to an English congregation in La Paz and with local Mexican youth, mobilizing them into cross cultural missions work. Please pray as well for the work he and Shelly are doing to spread God’s love in new circles.

Deep Freeze 2018 (Winter Retreat for Middle and High Schoolers)

We will be hanging out with three other Greater Boston churches for an outrageously fun weekend of snow tubing, basketball, volleyball, and carpetball tournaments, the giant swing, paintball, and more January 26–28! The theme is “Color the Night,” and our speaker, Mark Oestreicher, will talk with us about what it means to have hope in uncertain times. We’ll worship with the Gordon Band and have plenty of time to hang out with one another. $160* covers lodging, meals, transportation, and activities (other than paintball). You can sign up online through January 18—after that, sign-ups will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Space is limited, so grab your spot today! *We never want cost to exclude students from joining us on a retreat! For information about scholarships or payment plans, please contact Chelsea.
